the team that managed to make it into the finals.
The final day of the competition~ Two teams decided to pull an all-nighter just to prepare and improve the robot for the finals. Turned out the all-nighter actually was a success, and even though the two teams that had stayed up was tired, they were happy at the end of the day.
Everyone was hyped up as majority made their way to the audience stands to witness the remaining four robots fight it out. Actually, everyone decided to forgo playing computer games in the warmth of the waiting area and came to give support to our team in the cold audience stands.
The finals actually consisted of four rounds to fight, and all of them were given 5 minutes to fix or make minor improvements on their robots after each round before going for the next. To say that the results were close would have been an understatement; it had every single of one us gripping the edges of their seats or ripping their hair out.
On the second round, Anderson's robot was thrashed by its opponents so badly that the team had to forgo one round just to place the pieces back together. Something that had our hearts going fast turned out to be a blessing in disguise. When they skipped the third round, they neither lost nor won any points, though the former would have been more possible going by how aggressive their opponents were.
So, having maintained their points from the second round, Anderson's robot made its way into the arena, and after several nail biting moments, through a flash of luck, our team managed to secure second place in the competition!
Considering that the teams from Malaysia had much stronger and faster robots that made ours look like ants, having secured second place was a great achievement for us. After the prize presentation, we took a huge group picture, a printed proof of our victory (even though we came in second) in a competition where we once thought that we held no hope in winning.
In celebration, we went a shopping mall after eating dinner at the restaurant, and nearly everyone bought something to bring home as memories of this place. Majority of us went to Kinokuniya, seeing that none of the other shop had things that interested us, especially for the boys. After spending nearly an hour at the shopping mall, we went back to the hotel and into a good night's rest.
